Our First Female BJJ Black Belt

Our newest Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu black belt is also our first female black belt. Coach Chela has literally been with us since day one in Chapel Hill. Anyone who’s ever trained with her knows she’s a monster, but what you may not know is that she’s also a commercial realtor and one of the architects behind every expansion of Beacon MMA, Chapel Hill.

A fixture in our noon classes, Coach Chela has been ultra consistent, despite being a business owner, a mother of two, and an active member of various community events and organizations throughout the Chapel Hill area.

In the past, all of our promotions were surprises. Though we now test for every rank, we continue to honor this tradition with our black belts. And Coach Chela was no exception. We even went as far as awarding her with the 4the stripe on her brown belt to throw her off the trail.
